Zombie Hot Air Balloon
This assignment I was tasked with taking some elses initial idea and magnifying it. The original idea was to drop bombs on zombies from a hot air balloon.
Zombie Hot Air Balloon
This game is played by elevating and lowering your hot air balloon to pick up survivors and power-ups but avoid zombies and trees, while at the same time, dropping explosives on zombies.

A 3D combat/flight simulator where the player controls a hot air balloon piloted by Andy and Sara Jones. Levels will be free roaming territories in which a player is tasked with searching and rescuing people then transporting them to a safe area. The player will be able to fire at zombies in the air with firearms and bomb enemies on the land by dropping explosives. Players will be able to upgrade their hot air balloon with money awarded at the end of each level. Friends will be able to battle each other or race to pick-up survivors in a multiplayer mode both locally and online.
Platform
The platform I have chosen for this game is the Nintendo 3DS. People of all ages have a 3DS and I want this game to be enjoyable and acceptable for all ages to enjoy. I also find that having two screens can be really fun with one being the radar or map. I also think this game would be pretty fun to have in 3D since there is also so many things that will be viewed from a and it will help with being able to dodge trees. I did consider that to make this game fun to play in 3D the hot air balloon would have to travel faster than a real world hot air balloon. This game would also make a wonderful multiplayer experience with everyone playing on their own screen before there eyes and it could work well online too with the 3DS's online capabilities. I do not think we would pump this game with the greatest graphics and sound. Therefore, this may only be a Nintendo e-shop download only game which we would sell for around 20 dollars.
Control
The game will use every button on the Nintendo 3DS to play it. The circle pad will be used to look around and aim the weapons. The player will also be able to use the 3DS's gyroscope feature to look around. The face button A, B, X, and Y will be used for moving the balloon in four directions. The Y button will be used for moving the balloon forward and the B button for moving backwards. The X button will be used for moving the balloon up and the A button for moving it down. The shoulder buttons, L and R, will be the weapon buttons and when pressed once the view will shift for that weapon. The R button will go to the firearm view which will be a view that looks over the horizon. The L button will shift the view toward the ground for bombing. Each view will have an aiming cursor so the player will know where their shots are going to land. The player will be able to cycle between different bombs purchased between each level with the right and left directions on the D-pad. The up and down directions will be used to cycle between all the extra firearms purchased. The start button will pause the game and give the options to resume the game, restart the level, and quit the game. The select button will be used to switch between the first and third person view according to the player's liking. The touch screen will have some interface buttons to manipulate the level's map. As for any shell menus, the A button will confirm, the B button will cancel, and either the D-pad or the circle pad can select options.
Story
Many centuries ago, an all out war broke out between the zombie people and the human race. Zombies discovered that humans were very tasty and started to eat them. The humans fought back and won the war banishing the zombies underground. To keep the zombies underground the humans decided to supply the zombies with food every year by giving them some livestock. It sure isn't human meat but what the zombies were given was very tasty. Since then there has been much peace between the humans and the zombies. As the human world has evolved with all its technological advancements, the human world has gotten more and more noisy. These everyday hustle and bustle noises were amplified underneath the earth where the zombies have lived. One zombie, by the name of Gunther H. Winchester III, got fed up with the noises, gathered his zombie brethren, and has declared war on the humans once again. Seeing the carnage around them caused by the zombies, Andy and Sara Jones decide that they want to take part in fighting back against the zombie people. All they had was a hot air balloon they inherited from their great grandpa. They armed themselves with high powered potato guns and made explosives with water balloons and set out to save humans in peril and combat the zombie people.
I chose to make this story somewhat fun and playful for a younger audience. Even though I'm tired of the zombie apocalypse there is so much one could do to play with the concept. I also wanted to make zombies an intelligent race instead of just aimlessly running around. What will make them still look and act like zombies is their decaying skin, and growls, but for the most part they will look like intelligent people.
Scoring
The player will be awarded money at the end of each level based upon how well he played. Money will be awarded for every survivor rescued and every zombie defeated. Money will be subtracted from that total in accordance with how much damage the player takes during the mission. With this money the player will be able to purchase upgrades for the hot air balloon and the weapons. The upgrades will help the player fly faster. The standard weapons given to the player at the beginning of the game will be very short in their range and power. The upgrades will enhance their range and power. Missiles can also be purchased but in limited quantity. In muiltiplayer, the scoring will be a simple count for how many times one player shoots another down. If there players are playing a zombie rescue competition, the scoring will count how many survivors are rescued. The higher the score in any of these modes determines the victor.
