TIM BENITEZ
HELLO I'M TIM
I LOVE CREATING GAMES
Adventure Factory
This was a challenge to come up with some kind of user created content game. Personally I would love to have a game like this made.
Adventure Factory
Genre and Gameplay:
Have you ever played a game and thought to yourself that you would have made the game and its story differently? Of course you have because you are connoisseur of games. What if you could create a game by creating the maps, enemies, and weapons? Well now you can with Adventure Factory!!! With Adventure Factory you will be able to create your own action/adventure games right from your home. Have you always wanted to make games but had no stinking clue about how to program? Well you need not worry about that because we got that covered. All you need to do is drag and drop objects and give them some simple easy instruction. Gameplay will be controlled like a standard 3rd person action game where you attack and defend against enemies with swords and shields and guns. Players will be able to traverse large worlds and fight large enemies in dungeons and caves. Talk and play with the locals in towns and cities. All the player actions such as attacking, defending, moving, and others will be set up by the developer (that's us). Adventure Factory comes equipped with tools to make your own action/adventure and share with your friends. Don't want any battles or fighting in your adventure? N o problem, because you can choose not to include them if that's your heart's desire. Adventure games always require puzzles to solve in big dungeons. There will be certain objects (such as switches) to make these puzzles. There will be a social hall where you can set up multiplayer arenas, interact with each other, post on a discussion board, and share weapons and armor. A player can invite other players to take on adventures users have made. These adventures will be solitary experiences unless the creator allows teams to play in them. This package comes with at least one grand adventure created by the developers to enjoy. In this very same adventure, the player can find more materials in which to build maps, make weapons, and make your character look snazzy. This adventure will be a tail of woe and despair with a gripping story. More adventures and materials will become available through downloadable content from the developer in the near and distant future.
Creating stuff
There are many things that can be created and shared within Adventure Factory. There will be tools for fantasy creation, scifi creation, and real world creation. Players will be able to mix and match these should they choose to. Anything created can be colored in any color. The creation hall is where all the creation will take place and the player can toggle between each creation mode seamlessly so they can get their project done. The only mode that will be included in the creation hall will be included in the creation hall is the player's avatar because that is some thing they create before they start playing.
-Avatar/Player
The player will have many physical attributes to choose from such as hair style, eye shape, physique, and more. There will be no statistical attributes given to individual avatars for these attributes will be placed on the weapons and armor alone. There will be two ages the player can choose for his avatar which are child and adult. The player will have different race attributes like a demon face for example. The player can also earn more of these attributes through their trek through the main adventure.
-Maps
Standard terrain features such as grass, trees, mountains, and more. There will be various bricks, wood and cement items used to create buildings. There will be also a level raiser which will raise and lower terrain to make hills and such. The player can choose to make a complete adventure with towns, a world map, and dungeons, or they can choose to just create one single level.
-NPCs
Can create each and every character from scratch, have the game generate one for you, or select from some pre-constructed character models. There will be a list of animations these characters can perform. The player can also attach messages the NPC will say. The player will also be able to label some NPCs as significant if they are to be used as supporting characters to tell the story.
-Enemies
Enemies can be created with various statistical attributes such as strength, defense, speed, and so on. The player will have points which he can distribute among these qualities. The player is also able to mix and match heads, bodies, arms, and legs to create their own creatures. There will be a list of attacks the player can give enemies and can make them more aggressive or less aggressive.
-Weapons
Players can create weapons out of three components. Like a sword will need a handle, a guard, and a blade. What the player uses for each part is up to him. Like enemies the player will have attributes to allocate points to. These attributes will be strength and speed, and possibly more.
-Armor
These will be created like weapons except with defensive qualities and not attacking qualities.
-Items
There will be other items that can be created such as a grappling hook. These can be created with weapon parts. Some of these will not be given attacking and/or defense qualities, but to give the player the ability to advance in a game or level.
-Events
Gives the player a way to string everything together. Answering question like,”What will this character do if I find a pretty gem for her.” Sadly there won't be anyway to construct cinematic scenes with various camera angles but scenes with orchestrated movements can be made.
There are many ways each of these things can be shared and played with. The main adventure will have players start with nothing and earn their items and weapons like any traditional action/adventure. Users that create their adventure can choose to do the same or allow the player to take any items with them into the adventure. Since every adventure can be a long one progress can naturally be saved in any adventure. There will be a hall where adventures are located where any player can access adventures provided by the developers or the users. Users can choose to put items they've created into a community box in another hall called the community hall. These items can be taken from any player to try out. Also in the community hall players can go head to head individually or in teams to show off all the weapons and armor they've found or made.
Victory/Loss
Winning and losing depends on which adventure the player is playing. The users will determine how the player is advancing throughout their adventure. The creators can add health upgrades in their adventures. As stated earlier any items found in any adventure can be kept and stored for use later. In head to head multiplayer, battle score will be awarded for each player defeated to the defeater. The winner is determined with the one player or team with the highest score when time is up. All players' health will remain the same in this mode.
Graphic Style
This game will have a cartoon look to it with bold shapes yet will have a realistic touch to it. Character models will be cartoonish with exaggerations but not with extreme exaggeration. Character models will show nearly proper proportions. However, the cartoon look will feature characters with slightly bigger heads than a normal person and big bulky characters will have exaggerated muscle size. There will be a fair amount of detailed textured objects to build with such as bricks with small cracks in them or wood with the rings. Colors will of course depend on the creators color choices. This game will feature full 3D figures and objects and camera controls..
Audio
There will be a list of orchestrated tracks to choose from and also a list of sound effects to add to the creator's adventure. Adventure games are supposed to be epic games and orchestrated music is best for this. The player will also be able to upload their own music if they want to so they can create their own moving scenes. There will be no voice over work as the users will be writing their own dialog and that would cause some weird robotic voices.
Console
With the rise of the next generation of consoles I have chosen the Xbox One for this game for a few reasons. The first reason is the ability to attach an external hard drive to store data. Since all Xbox One games need to be installed, the standard 500 GB hard drive could end up getting too full to store all the extra adventure the player downloads to play. It's possible to use the cloud server to save progress in these adventures as well. Another reason I've chosen this platform is that Microsoft recently announced that the Xbox One will be able to use mp3s. This will make it possible for players to enter their own music for their adventure. People may be able to attach a mouse and keyboard which will ease creation and message writing. The Kinect will be another tool that can be used for creating maps and characters. And the standard controller will be used for playing the adventures. This game will have standard action/adventure controls. These will be: attack, jump, magic, defend, run and walk, and their will be an action button to interact with NPCs and investigate objects.
Who's going to buy this?
There are not too many adventure games without some action gameplay. There are many people who also love action/adventure games. I believe anyone who enjoys action or action/adventure is going to buy this. This game crafts games. Players are going to make full scale adventures with ease with stories they want to put in. Interaction with the community through this game will get people excited to share and discuss adventure gaming. And everyone likes to compete which this game will have as well.
